The World Drum Gathering at ‘Akasha Keep’

The World Drum
The morning had arrived, The World Drum was at our place “Akasha Keep”, Lynn handed me the drum in its protective case. Upon opening the case I could immediately feel the energy from the drum. Before taking out her out of the case, I unpacked the cloth which the drum sits on when not in use. This in itself had great energy and was beautiful in its simple design. As I held the drum for the first time I could feel lots of positive energy from all who had held it before us. It was a privilege and an honour to hold the drum and have her at our centre and home.
As I handed the drum to Ron, you could sense that he was already picking up on her energies by the way he handled her with great respect and an appearance of wonder. “This is indeed a powerful drum,” he said.
It was time to start our first drumming circle. As always, we started the proceedings by smudging everyone with white sage to ‘wash off’ all our negative energies and to help put us in the right place to get the most from the event. As each person was smudged they went into the healing circle. We began with Lynn explaining all about the drum, its purpose and the journey so far. This was followed by some chanting which raised our energy. It was now time to sit quietly in meditation, after which we gave and received drum healings. Time had come to close this circle and have some food and drink to help keep us grounded. Some stayed on, as they did not want to part company with The Drum.
Before we knew it, it was time for our second drum ceremony for the day. This one was a bit different as it was now night time. The fire was burning well. The torches surrounding the circle were glowing brightly, the sky above was filled with stars and we had a bigger excited group of people ready to meet the drum. We started the same way with smudging, followed by chanting. We sat in our circle in meditation and then enjoined in some more chanting. During the night several people heard our horse (he passed away a few months ago) have his say and felt his presence. We also saw several shooting stars – messages from the universe to say all is well. We ended the night with a peace pipe ceremony to close our circle.

After a cuppa it was time for the drum to leave our place. It was a short but beautiful and memorable visit. After having held the drum, we now feel a connection with the world wide drum family and all it stands for.
