The Crown Chakra is located on the top of your head and relates to consciousness as pure awareness. When developed it brings us knowledge, wisdom, understanding, spiritual connection and bliss.

Its Sanskrit name is Sahasrara meaning thousand fold and relates to the element spirit.

Here are some ways to balance the Crown Chakra:-

Crystals may be used. Crystals for the Crown Chakra are all the white or clear ones: Clear Quartz, Selenite and Danburite are just a few suggestions.

Burning Ylang Ylang and Rosewood scented essential oils and incense are also a pleasant way to help.

Wearing or carrying something white will also be a help.

Use an affirmation: I have inner strength. Say this silently or out loud to yourself daily, or as you feel the need.

The musical note for the Crown Charka is B, so music played in this key is ideal for this purpose.

Do you know certain things to be true without knowing why, sense that God is watching over you, understand all life experiences to have deep purpose, believe in miracles, believe all is well no matter how it appears, follow your guidance even when it doesn’t make sense, believe that life is not a random event?
If you don’t then you probably need to work on your Crown Chakra.

Here are a few suggestions to bring things back into balance:

Pray
Listen to Mozart or Gregorian chants
Bless your food before eating
Learn to sing ancient spiritual chants
Recycle and avoid waste and polluting
Go on a fast
Talk to God
Meditate regularly
Visit the elderly or the ill
Donate food
Write your own prayers
Take one day of a week to rest

Meditation for the Crown Chakra:

A Guided Meditation for balancing the crown chakra. You may either get someone to read this to you, or you may read it out and record it in your own voice. It is best read slowly, allowing for pauses where appropriate.

Sitting comfortably with your back straight, take a deep breath and breathe out all your tension.
Imagine yourself sitting on a grassy patch on top of a hill.
Looking up you see a beautiful rainbow in the clear blue sky.
All the colours are clear yet blending into each other.
As you gaze at the rainbow you feel it coming towards you.
You watch as it gets closer until it is above your head.
Sitting there you feel the colours absorbing in through your crown chakra.

Feel the red going down to your root chakra.
The orange going down to your sacral centre.
The yellow going down to your solar plexus.
The green going down to your heart.
The blue going down to your throat.
The indigo going to your third eye.
And the violet to your crown.

Feel all the colours absorbing into all your chakras.
Sit for awhile and just absorb all the colours.
When you are ready open your eyes, feeling relaxed but alive.

You may use this chakra balancing meditation whenever you feel the need for it, or as often as you like.

Before reading this article, it may benefit you to read the article; ‘What are Chakras?’ and the previous articles.

The Third Eye is located in the middle of the forehead and is related to seeing both physically and intuitively. It opens our psychic ability. As such it opens our psychic faculties. When healthy it allows us to see clearly, in effect letting us “see the big picture”.

Its Sanskrit name is Ajna meaning to perceive, to command and relates to the element light.

Here are some ways to balance the Third Eye Chakra:-

Crystals may be used. Crystals for the Third Eye are all the indigo and purple ones: Amethyst, Azurite and Sugilite are just a few suggestions.

Burning Frankincense, Myrtle and Geranium scented essential oils and incense are also a pleasant way to help.

Wearing or carrying something purple or indigo will also be a help.

Use an affirmation: I communicate easily. Say this silently or out loud to yourself daily, or as you feel the need.

The musical note for the Third Eye is A, so music played in this key is ideal for this purpose.

Do you pay attention to small details, notice what others overlook, easily visualize in your mind’s eye, have vivid dreams, have a good and accurate memory, have an open mind, seek accurate information, think through before you make decisions, refrain from judging people by appearances and have an open mind to another’s point of view?
If you don’t then you probably need to work on your Third Eye.

Here are a few suggestions to bring things back into balance:

- Be a model for a day
- Look for the silver lining
- Plant flowers
- Play memory games
- Invent a recipe and make it
- Put up a bulletin board and put you favorite photographs on it
- Get an indigo shirt or scarf
- Take up photography
- Clean up your house
- Make your own greeting cards
- Redecorate your living room
- Design your own tarot cards
- Make your own flower arrangement

Meditation for the Third Eye:

A Guided Meditation for balancing the third eye chakra. You may either get someone to read this to you, or you may read it out and record it in your own voice. It is best read slowly, allowing for pauses where appropriate.

Sitting comfortably with your eyes closed, take a deep breath and breathe out all your tensions.
Feel yourself becoming very relaxed.
Imagine that you are sitting on a beach.
Feel the warm sand underfoot.
Smell the salt air.
Feel the warmth of the sun.
Sit for a moment and just watch as the waves roll in one after the other, gently washing the sand.
As you sit and watch you feel a presence beside you.
You have been joined by your spirit guides.
Turn and face them.
Do you know them?
Take a few moments to talk to them.
Ask any questions.
Be open to the answers.
When you are ready, say goodbye to your guides, knowing that you can return any time and talk to them.
When you are ready open your eyes.

You may use this chakra balancing meditation whenever you feel the need for it, or as often as you like.

Before reading this article, it may benefit you to read the article; ‘What are Chakras?’ and the previous articles.

The Throat chakra is located at the base of the neck and is related to communication, creativity, self expression, neck, shoulders, hearing and the thyroid. Here we experience the world symbolically through vibration, such as the vibration of sound, representing language.

Its Sanskrit name is Vishuddha meaning purification and relates to the element ether.

Here are some ways to balance the Throat Chakra:-

Crystals may be used. Crystals for the Throat Chakra are all the blue ones: Blue Lace Agate, Blue Calcite and Lapis Lazuli are just a few suggestions.

Burning Lavender, Chamomile and Orange scented essential oils and incense are also a pleasant way to help.

Wearing or carrying something blue will also be a help.

Use an affirmation: I communicate easily. Say this silently or out loud to yourself daily, or as you feel the need.

The musical note for the Throat Chakra is G, so music played in this key is ideal for this purpose.

Fruits are the best foods for the Throat Chakra.

Do you speak clearly and pronounce your words well, express your needs without losing your temper, listen to others without interruption, compliment others freely, listen to your intuition, react strongly to what you hear, speak with optimism?
If you don’t then you probably need to work on your Throat Chakra.

Here are a few suggestions to bring things back into balance:
Wear a blue scarf
Speak good things for the whole day
Greet others in a kind and positive way
Write thank you letters
Breathe while listening
Sing in the shower
Go somewhere remote and scream loudly, chant or sing
Ask your higher self for guidance
Observe silence for ten minutes a day
Take of your tie and open your collar
Respond to negativity with silence
Practice saying what you want to say in advance

Meditation for the Throat Chakra:

A Guided Meditation for balancing the throat chakra. You may either get someone to read this to you, or you may read it out and record it in your own voice. It is best read slowly, allowing for pauses where appropriate.

Close your eyes, breathing deeply and slowly, see yourself very relaxed.
Let all of your tensions go.
Count from five down to one as you become even more relaxed.
See yourself inside a blue mist.
Feel the blue all round you; it is a soft comforting blue.
Breathe the blue into your lungs, feel the blue go in through your nose down through your throat and into your lungs.
Feel it making you confident and relaxed.
Now see yourself saying all the things you need to say.
See yourself standing in front of people you need to talk to.
You have no fear; say what you need to say.
You now feel better.
Next time you want to say something, remember the blue mist, and remember the feeling of saying what you have to.
When you are ready open your eyes.

You may use this chakra balancing meditation whenever you feel the need for it, or as often as you like.

Before reading this article, it may benefit you to read the article; ‘What are Chakras?’ and the previous articles.

The Heart Chakra is the middle chakra and is located above the physical heart. It relates to love. A healthy heart chakra allows us to love deeply, feel compassion and have a deep sense of peace and centeredness. This chakra also related to the lungs, heart, arms and hands.

Its Sanskrit name is Anahata meaning, unstuck and relates to the element of air.

Here are some ways to balance the Heart Chakra:-

Crystals may be used. Crystals for the Heart Chakra are all the green or pink ones: Green Aventurine, Rose Quartz and Rhodochrosite are just a few suggestions.

Burning Rose, Rosemary or Melissa scented essential oils and incense are also a pleasant way to help.

Wearing or carrying something green or pink will also be a help.

Use an affirmation: I am emotionally balanced. Say this silently or out loud to yourself daily, or as you feel the need.

The musical note for the Heart Chakra is F sharp, so music played in this key is ideal for this purpose.

Vegetables are the best foods for the Heart Chakra.

Are you light-hearted, quick to forgive, naturally patient, naturally trusting of others?
Do you enjoy helping others, take offence easily, feel good about who you are, spend time doing what you love, have fond memories of your past, take good care of yourself?
If not then your Heart Chakra probably needs attention.

Here are a few suggestions to bring things back into balance:
Take out the rubbish every week and put your emotional rubbish in it.
Read poetry
Give someone a bear hug
Soak in a bath with rose oil
Eat green leafy vegetables
Wear something green
Spend a week-end in nature
Read a funny book
Write poetry
Forgive someone you hold a grudge against

Meditation for the Heart Chakra:

A Guided Meditation for balancing the heart chakra. You may either get someone to read this to you, or you may read it out and record it in your own voice. It is best read slowly, allowing for pauses where appropriate.

Close your eyes, relax, breathing deeply as you relax even more.
With each breath in, breathe in green healing energy and with each breath out, breathe out all your worries.
Feel the green healing energy fill your heart and lungs.
Breathe deeply, filling your lungs with beautiful green energy.
Feel your heart grow stronger as it is surrounded with love.
Feel it fill to overflowing with love.
You have plenty of love for yourself and then to share with others.
Think of all the people who have given you love.
Feel a warm glow surround your heart as you remember all the love you have received.
Now think of all the love you have given to others.
Don’t forget all the love you have given to yourself.
Spend a few minutes reflecting on all the love you have in your life.
Sense the warm glow you feel inside.
Remember this feeling, take it with you always.
Remember it in times of trouble and in times of joy.
When you are ready open your eyes.

You may use this chakra balancing meditation whenever you feel the need for it, or as often as you like.

Before reading this article, it may benefit you to read the article; ‘What are Chakras?’ and the previous articles.

The Solar Plexus is known as the power chakra and is located just below the sternum. It rules our personal power, will, digestive system, muscles as well as our metabolism. When healthy, this chakra brings us energy, effectiveness, spontaneity, and non-dominating power.

Its Sanskrit name is Manipura meaning lustrous gem and relates to the element of fire.

Here are some ways to balance the Solar Plexus Chakra:-

Crystals may be used. Crystals for the Solar plexus are all the yellow ones: Citrine, Calcite and Tiger Eye are just a few suggestions.

Burning Sage and Bergamot scented essential oils and incense are also a pleasant way to help.

Wearing or carrying something yellow will also be a help.

Use an affirmation: My mind is clear. Say this silently or out loud to yourself daily, or as you feel the need.

The musical note for the Solar Plexus is E, so music played in this key is ideal for this purpose.

Starches are the best foods for the Solar Plexus.

If you can’t you say no easily, are you able to make commitments and stick to them, don’t speak your mind openly and without fear, don’t honor your body’s needs (i.e. sleep when tired, eat when hungry, rest when fatigued), aren’t mutually respectful in your personal relationships,
can’t allow others to be unhappy or uncomfortable without trying to rescue them, don’t do as much for yourself as you do for others, aren’t honestly doing what you want to do in life?
Then your Solar Plexus probably need some attention.

Here are a few suggestions to bring things back into balance:
Sleep on things before you commit to them
Write down your daily goals every morning
Write down your accomplishments every night
Take yourself on a special date at least once a month
Start a project and finish it
Learn to belly dance

A Guided Meditation for balancing the solar plexus chakra. You may either get someone to read this to you, or you may read it out and record it in your own voice. It is best read slowly, allowing for pauses where appropriate.

Sit comfortably with your eyes closed.
Imagine yourself sitting in front of a fire burning brightly in a fireplace.
Feel the warmth of the flames.
See the bright red, yellow and orange of the flames as they dance in front of you.
Imagine that the fire is in your belly, burning up all your unwanted emotions.
See them all going up in flames, all the long held unwanted anger burning up and leaving a sense of peace behind.
Whenever you feel a long forgotten hurt or anger come up, see it burn up, so you release it forever.
Whenever you feel the need, close your eyes and see the fire inside burning up all the feelings you no longer need or want.
When you are ready open your eyes feeling much lighter as you have released all the anger that was eating you up inside.

You may use this chakra balancing meditation whenever you feel the need for it, or as often as you like.

Before reading this article, it may benefit you to read the article; ‘What are Chakras?’ and the previous article.

The Sacral Centre is related to our lower back, sexual organs, bladder, kidneys and emotions and it connects us to others through feeling desire, sensation and movement.
Ideally this chakra brings us fluidity and grace, depth of feeling, sexual fulfillment and the ability to accept change.

Its Sanskrit name is Swadhisthana meaning sweetness and relates to the element of water.

Here are some ways to balance the Sacral Chakra:-

Crystals may be used. Crystals for the Sacral Centre are all the orange and brown ones: Amber, Carnelian, and Jasper are just a few suggestions.

Burning Sandalwood and Jasmine scented essential oils and incense are also a pleasant way to help.

Wearing or carrying something orange will also be a help.

Use an affirmation: My life is full of happiness and fun. Say this silently or out loud to yourself daily, or as you feel the need.

The musical note for the Sacral Centre is D, so music played in this key is ideal for this purpose.

Drinking lots of water is good for the Sacral Centre.

Do you nurture your body; listen to your body, pay attention to your feelings, express your feelings, respect your feelings, take the time to eat well and sleep enough, treat yourself gently, take the time to look nice, enjoy being sexual, agree to receive and be nurtured?
If you don’t do any or all of these things your Sacral Centre is probably out of balance.

Here are a few suggestions to bring things back into balance:
Give yourself flowers
Create your own spa at home
Buy sexy underwear
Slow dancing
Play games
Have a pillow fight
Use your best china & silver
Eat one piece of good chocolate
Take a long bubble bath by candlelight
Watch a sunrise
Send someone a love letter
Get a weekly massage

Meditation for the Sacral Centre:

A Guided Meditation for balancing the sacral chakra. You may either get someone to read this to you, or you may read it out and record it in your own voice. It is best read slowly, allowing for pauses where appropriate.

Relax, take in a deep breath and breathe out all your tensions.
Feeling very relaxed; now see yourself at the top of a path.
Walking down the path you see all the flowers and trees.
You hear the birds calling.
You are feeling very much at peace with the world.
You come to a small creek flowing gently over the rocks, following the creek you come to a waterfall.
Standing watching the waterfall gently falling over the rocks you feel like the water is taking any problems you have and washing them away.
Stand for awhile and visualize all your troubles falling into the water and washing away.
Feel yourself becoming at ease with yourself, without a care in the world.
Remember this feeling, any time you become tense, you can come back to the waterfall and let the water wash everything away.
When you are ready, open your eyes and take the feeling of peace with you, always.

You may use this chakra balancing meditation whenever you feel the need for it, or as often as you like.

Before reading this article, it may benefit you to read the previous article; ‘What are Chakras.’

The base chakra forms our foundation and is related to our survival instincts and sense of connection to the earth. It relates to the lymph system, skeletal system (teeth and bones), legs and feet.

You need this chakra functioning properly to keep you grounded and in touch with reality, or as the saying goes “to keep your feet firmly on the ground”. If you don’t, you will often feel not quite with it, spacey, off with the pixies.

Its Sanskrit Name is Muladhara meaning root support and relates to the Earth element.

Here are some ways to balance the Base Chakra:-

A good way to start with the Base Chakra is to walk barefoot on the ground, this way you are very connected with the earth, dig in the garden, soak in a salt bath, do grounding activities such as cooking, cleaning and other related tasks.
Crystals may be used. Crystals for the Base Chakra are all the black and red coloured ones: Hematite, Garnet, Red Tigers Eye and Black Tourmaline are just a few suggestions.

Burning earthy scented essential oils and incense are also a pleasant way to help.

Wearing or carrying something red. This will also be a help.

Using an affirmation: I am strong and energetic. Say this silently or out loud to yourself daily, or as you feel the need.

The musical note for the Base Chakra is C, so music played in this key is ideal for this purpose.

Eating the right food will also help, proteins and meat are the best for the Base Chakra.

Do you feel overly concerned with survival, fearful, worried, scared that you can’t handle life, isolated, like you don’t fit in, don’t belong, believe you cannot take care of yourself, unsatisfied, no matter what you do, preoccupied with food, unworthy or undeserving? If any of these apply to you then your Base Chakra probably needs attention.

Here are a few suggestions to bring things back into balance:
Salt your home, place a pinch of salt in every corner, window and entrance
Create a routine to keep yourself grounded
Get a pet or plant to look after
Get order in your life
Look after your feet
Organize your home, clean out your drawers
Lie on the ground
Cook your own meals, baking bread & peeling potatoes are grounding
Work in the garden
Have a picnic
Build an alter relating to the base chakra, use red candles, burn cedar wood oil, have red flowers, red ribbon or a pot plant.

Meditation for the Base Chakra:

A Guided Meditation for balancing the base chakra. You may either get someone to read this to you, or you may read it out and record it in your own voice. It is best read slowly, allowing for pauses where appropriate.

Sit comfortably with your spine straight.
Take a deep breath and relax, let all the tensions go.
Concentrate on your breathing, in, out, in, out.
Now imagine yourself in a peaceful grassy clearing.
You are surrounded by majestic gum trees.
The earth is soft but firm underfoot.
You feel at peace.
Looking around, you see a path leading out of the clearing.
Walking down the path you notice it is littered with leaves and has been trodden by many others.
You come to a small pond with a rock chair next to it.
Sitting on the rock you feel as if it was made especially for you.
When you are comfortable, imagine your root chakra as a ball of red-brown energy, a very earthy colour.
As you sit there the colour runs down your legs and deep into mother earth.
This is keeping your feet firmly planted on the ground and in touch with mother earth.
Feel the energy from the earth flowing up to you, putting you in touch with the earth.
Take a moment to really feel this.
It is now time to leave your rock chair knowing you can return at any time.
Remember the feeling and carry it with you at all times.
It is now time to open your eyes and return to this reality as we know it.

You may use this chakra balancing meditation whenever you feel the need for it, or as often as you like.

Chakras, which mean wheels in Sanskrit, are energy centers running along our spine. Ancient Hindus formulated that there were seven of these energy wheels, each one a different color and spinning in a clockwise direction.

We all have seven major chakras and many minor chakras. They are like spinning funnels that come out from our body. When they are perfectly balanced and spinning correctly we are in perfect health. If one or more are out of balance, too open or too closed we feel off color, out of balance, or sick. This is what is called dis-ease. Each chakra relates to organs or parts of the body and each need to be looked after and balanced regularly. You can work on each chakra separately starting with the base chakra, and then bring them all into balance, or you can work on all the chakras at the same time.

The root chakra is located at the base of the spine.
The sacral centre is just below the navel.
The solar plexus is about two inches above the navel.
The heart is about the level of the physical heart.
The throat is at the base of the neck.
The third eye is on the forehead between the eyes.
The crown is at the top of the head.

These are the 7 major chakras and there are many minor chakras as well.

All chakras interact with one another. Each chakra corresponds to a particular colour frequency and with a particular gland or organ. This means that the organ or gland vibrates at a sympathetic rhythm to a colour vibration. When we feel “off colour” or “washed out” we need to re-tune the colour, just like tuning in a radio set to a station so that it restores the signal loud and clear.

In a healthy body the chakras absorb and distribute colour energy evenly, while in an unhealthy person toxins may begin to collect causing physical, mental and emotional problems.

Each chakra can be balanced using colours, crystals, essential oils, music, affirmations or changing what you do. It is also beneficial to have a chakra balance to bring them all back into balance. This can be done at home by yourself or you can go to a crystal therapist or colour therapist to have it done.

When all your chakras are balanced – you should be healthy and well balanced.

It is important to have all your chakras in balance, sometimes when people start on the spiritual path they concentrate on the third eye, but it is very important to start at the bottom. Our body is like a building, you need to get the foundations right before you work on the top floors. So make sure your bottom chakras are balanced and functioning properly.

Each chakra is represented by a colour:

Base – Red
Sacral – Orange
Solar Plexus – Yellow
Heart – Green or Pink
Throat – Blue
Third Eye – Purple
Crown – White

The easiest way to bring the chakras back into balance is to carry or wear the appropriate colour.

Another very easy and pleasant way is to listen to a chakra balancing CD. Music is a very relaxing way to bring things back into balance. Ideally this is done while meditating, but just listening to the music will help. And let’s face it anything is better than nothing. Playing a chakra balancing CD is a great way to balance the whole family at the same time and usually this has a calming effect on every one as well.

An easy but effective way to balance and align the chakras is to do a guided meditation lying down with crystals or colour patches of material on each chakra.

A Guided Meditation for balancing the chakras.

You may either get someone to read this to you, or you may read it out and record your own voice. It is best read slowly, allowing for pauses where appropriate.
Relax, take a couple of deep breaths and breathe out all your stress and tension.
See yourself standing in a valley, you are surrounded with red tulips, everywhere you look it is a sea of red.
As you start to walk though the tulips you feel yourself absorbing the red energy.
You feel your root chakra come alive.
As you walk further you come to the end of the red tulips.
You have now come to a field of orange poppies, they are everywhere, and the flowers appear to be dancing in the light breeze.
As you walk along you notice you are starting to go up the side of a hill.
Walking through the poppies you feel yourself absorbing the colour orange.
Your sacral center is alive.
You now reach the end of the poppies.
You are now in a field of brilliant yellow daises.
Smell the fragrance and see the sunny yellow flowers.
As you continue your journey up the hill you feel the yellow absorbing into your body and your solar plexus is alive.
All too soon you come to the end of the yellow.
You now find yourself in a beautiful field of soft green grass.
As you walk across it you feel the green absorbing up through your feet.
Your heart chakra is alive.
The green grass field takes you further up the hill till you reach a field of bluebells, their delicate blue heads bowed slightly as if to greet you.
As you walk through them, feel the blue absorbing into your body, feel your throat chakra opening.
As you walk further up the hill you reach the end of the beautiful bluebells and find yourself in a field of indigo irises.
Stand for a moment and absorb the indigo colour flooding into your third eye.
Walking further up the hill you come to the end of the indigo and reach a patch of purple pansies.
Their beautiful petals are like faces looking up at you.
Hundreds of them all are projecting their colour up to your crown chakra.
Just stand for a moment and absorb.
As you slowly continue up the hill you leave your pansies and reach the top of the hill.
Here you are surrounded by a sea of tiny white flowers.
As you sit in the middle of the white flowers you notice you are on the top of the hill.
Looking down you can now see all the colours, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, purple and white, like stripes in the side of the hill.
Sit for a moment and take it all in.
You feel very peaceful and every chakra is alive.
It is now time to leave your rainbow hill.
Remember the feeling of all your chakras being alive.
Return to the top of the hill whenever you feel the need.
It is now time to open your eyes and return to this reality as we know it.

You may use this chakra balancing meditation whenever you feel the need for it, or as often as you like.
