This stone is becoming increasingly rare and costly. It is an opaque mineral consisting essentially of phosphates and has a colour range from apple-green (Chinese & African) to the popular sky blue colour (the Americas). One of the first gemstones to be mined and utilized in healing, Turquoise has long been prized for its intense colours, which vary greatly, depending on the quantities of iron and copper that are found in it.

Turquoise is a complicated, pernickety gemstone. Just the right type of minerals must be in just the right place for a very long time (millions of years) before turquoise is finally created.

The Egyptians prized Turquoise as a Life Stone and it is highly revered in Tibet where it is carried throughout one’s entire life.

A truth stone, it symbolizes a time to be honest with yourself. This stone reminds you to walk your talk.

Turquoise is also a protective stone and has been used throughout the ages for protective amulets. Today it is believed to protect against unwanted outside influences and pollutants in the atmosphere.

Turquoise promotes self realisation. It assists creative problem solving and calms the nerves when speaking in public. It stabilises mood swings and brings inner calm. Turquoise is an excellent stone for overcoming exhaustion, depression or panic attacks. It helps us communicate clearly what we want, and to then be able to communicate our desires to others in a way they can understand.

Turquoise is good crystal to wear when you have decisions to make. Use to increase your creativity and speak your truth without fear, and to dissolve self-sabotage and allow for self-expression. Can also help you get more in tune with others.

Turquoise facilitates meditation and allows us to perceive information psychically. Turquoise centres and harmonises while revitalising. It aligns the chakras, brings peace of mind and creative expression and opens us up to loving communication.

One of the most versatile of the power stones, which is why Native Americans honor it. It strengthens and tones the entire body. It is an excellent healing and grounding stone that helps to develop your natural powers and is believed to bring wisdom and is said to truly reflect the individual carrying or holding it.

Turquoise is a Master Healer and can be placed on all the chakras. Turquoise works at the throat Chakra enhancing communication skills and can be beneficial to the thyroid and the voice.

Enhances healing and immune function; it protects and detoxes, while it tones and strengthens the entire body. Aids muscle and tissue regeneration and relaxes cramps. It relieves headache and is beneficial for the circulation and respiratory systems. Fights viral infections and soothes stomach problems.

Topaz is a fluorine aluminium silicate found in a range of colours and the most valuable colour is a golden orange-yellow, called “Imperial Topaz”. Topaz is a gemstone that has been used in jewellery for centuries. It is said to have been one of the stones used in the breastplate of the High Priest. It is extremely supportive for visualization, and for affirmations and manifestation.

As a mellow and empathetic stone Topaz directs energy to where it is most needed. Its energy soothes, heals, stimulates, recharges and aligns the meridians of the body. This crystal promotes truth and forgiveness. Topaz brings about a trust in the universe that enables you to act from a state of being rather than doing, as it cuts through doubt and uncertainty. It throws light onto your path as it highlights goals and helps tap into inner recourses.

This stone sponsors openness and honesty, self control, self realization and the urge to develop inner wisdom. It helps you discover your inner riches, making you feel confident along with a desire to share your good fortune around.

Topaz is a highly energizing and warming stone. It is used to stimulate the intellect; it aids abstract thinking and creativity from the mental level to concrete physical form. It is a stone of trust and protection; it draws out negativity, exhaustion, and tension. A golden Topaz placed in your home is said to protect against break-ins and fire.

Topaz can be used to manifest health. Is an aid to digestion and can be used to overcome anorexia, restore the sense of taste, stimulate the metabolism, and fortify the nerves. Topaz is said to increase blood circulation, and aids with liver and kidney disorders. It is also said to relieve the pain associated with arthritis and rheumatism. An elixir is useful to correct dimness of vision.

Topaz makes an excellent emotional support, as it stabilizes the emotions and makes you receptive to love from all sources.

For all those born in the month of October, your Birthstone is Opal.

Opal is a hardened silica gel, containing between 4 -21% water by weight. Therefore it is non-crystalline, unlike most other gemstones. There are two varieties; precious opal, which shows flashes or plays of colour or iridescence, and there is common opal which is often opaque and displays no iridescence. When common opal is found in association with precious opal it is known as potch. Opals occur in a great range of colours and varieties. It is amorphous in structure, (without form) with a trigonal crystal structure and has a chemical composition of SiO2.nH2O.

Opal is a stone of inspiration which enhances the imagination and creativity. It helps you release inhibitions and enhances the memory. It is also said to be a very spiritual stone, and can help you be “invisible” in situations where you don’t care to be noticed. It has been known to bring happy dreams, and also to ease the process of change.

Opal is a silicate containing water and correlates with the emotions; it clarifies by amplifying and mirroring feelings, buried emotions, desires (including love and passion). With this comes less inhibition, more spontaneity, free visualization, clearer imagination, and more vivid dreams.

The opal has developed a myth as a stone of sorrow, misfortune and bad luck. This though is a modern and false idea. In fact Opal has a reputation for bringing good luck and fortune. The opal contains all of the colours as well as all of the qualities of all other stones and as such, may be programmed or dedicated for many purposes as required.

Use to facilitate astral projection as well as for protection. Opals are used to recall past incarnations, and are favoured by many to develop psychic and mystical powers.

Wearing opal will bring your inner beauty to the surface, and is said to bring loyalty, faithfulness and spontaneity. It encourages putting out positive emotions.

Opal is known to strengthen the will to live. It is linked to the heart and is said to stimulate the glands and regulate the metabolism. Treats infections, fevers and strengthens the memory. It is beneficial to the eyes. Opal has a favourable effect on the human psyche, pouring a warm healing energy on broken hearts and restoring harmony.

Diamond is the hardest natural substance and no naturally occurring material can cut or even scratch it. The Diamond has remarkable optical characteristics and mechanical properties, and these combined with well-organized marketing, have made the diamond such a popular gemstone. Diamond has an isometric crystallography. It is most common and popular in its clear variety, but also occurs in many other colours, called fancies, which are rarer and more expensive.

Diamond was used during ancient times as a talisman against cowardice and was recognized as a “stone to enhance invulnerability”. It rallies strength with age and maintains the energy to stimulate unity and love of oneself and others.

This gem is said to be one of the stones used on the breastplate of the high priest.

Intensity is a key word for diamond; it emanates more energy for its size than any other crystal. As an energy amplifier, it works well with any other stone, enhancing its power for healing. It is one of the few stones that never needs recharging. This mineral is known as the “King of Crystals,” it reflects all colours of the rainbow and chakra system. It is a stone of clarity, commitment and communication that enhances prosperity, love and spirituality.

Unsurpassed as a symbol of wealth for thousands of years, the Diamond is a stone of manifestation, attracting abundance. It is also a symbol of purity and is said to bond relationships, bringing love, constancy and clarity into a partnership. It is seen as a symbol of commitment and fidelity, and is the stone traditionally chosen for engagement rings.

It enhances creativity by stimulating inventiveness and imagination. It will bring clarity of mind and aid enlightenment. It reminds you of your soul’s aspirations and assists its’ spiritual evolution.

Diamond may be used to clarify and stimulate sight, to benefit the brain, as a metabolic balancing agent and has been used traditionally to counteract the effects of poisoning.
