WhollyMetaphysical Newsletter – February 2010

What’s in this newsletter: - After my introductory discussion on ‘intention’, we have the inspirational quote for the month, a card reading – from ‘Crystal Oracle cards’ and the article: THE POWER OF YOUR INTENTIONS or what you say and think is what you get, plus bits & pieces of interesting information and news, including Four Keys to making your day a better and more joyful experience.

Hello, the power of intention, now that’s a powerful metaphysical principle, and when we use it right it can really make our life flow. In fact it is going to have to play a big role in the writing of this newsletter.  As I sit down in front of my computer to get it under way, instead of the usual inspiration, my mind is blank. Surely I am not alone in this predicament and I feel somewhat certain that we all have been here or somewhere similar at some stage.

So what can I do?

Well that’s going to be the theme of this newsletter. As I was sitting looking dumbly into the screen, I realized that that was the issue. Sure there was an intention to write a good newsletter, but what was I intending to convey?

You have probably heard ‘that energy flows where attention goes’, and I am sure that ‘energy flows where intention goes’ will work just as well.

One of my spiritual teachers used to impress upon me ‘look to your intention(s) – 80% of your outcome has to do with your intention.’ The other 20% is the work or effort you put behind it. In fact it must have stuck, because I find myself employing it regularly. If you have never thought about the connection between your outcomes and your intentions, I hope to encourage you to do so. For the rest I hope to encourage you to look for the areas where you have become tardy and tend to react rather than set or intend your outcome.

Intention as it is being used here is a combination of its various definitions. It includes the outcome or goal, but is more inclusive of the feelings, emotions and vibes. It’s about the way you want a thing or things to be. The story below should help to bring the understanding I wish to convey.

Inspirational quote for the month:

“If you’re walking down the right path and you’re willing to keep walking, eventually you’ll make progress”.

~ Barack Obama ~

Card reading:

I was feeling uncertain in my choice for the selection of the oracle deck for our reading, so I asked Sue what she would choose. She replied that I should use the crystal cards and the right selection is with them. So ‘Crystal Oracle cards’ by Toni Carmine Salerno it is. The chosen card is ‘Gold’ and reads as follows:

Crystal Oracle Cards‘This Gold card is a symbolic reflection of your true inner worth. At the core of your being there exists a pure golden essence with an infinite capacity to create!

‘You are being urged to look within, to go beyond the superficial personality and connect through contemplation and meditation with your true inner nature. There is a yearning within you to manifest all your heart desires. At the top of the list you will discover a yearning for financial wealth and freedom, and for the self confidence that money can bring. Do not delude yourself that somehow money is bad or that it does not align with your spiritual ideals. Money is just as much a part of God’s creation as we are. In actuality, it is neither good nor bad, rather, it is something to be valued and put to good use.

‘Sit quietly for a few minutes each day and lovingly imagine yourself having and achieving all your heart desires. Then, set a goal – one that you feel is achievable in the short term. Focus on it each day until it manifests. Then set a new goal and so on. Goals are reached one step at a time; an ongoing journey you head towards. Set clear goals, yet remember to always keep focused on the present, for it is in the present that all unfolds.

‘You deserve to be and have all your heart desires.’

Affirmation: Within my heart flows a river of gold. I am one with the eternal light of creation. I manifest my dreams. I create abundance in my life through love.

THE POWER OF YOUR INTENTIONS or what you say and think is what you get.

As you read this story I would like you to put yourself in it, so to speak. As you join in the story, consider what your usual response is. Do you set out your intentions before setting off, or do you just go for the ride? Do you let others set the tone, or do you even set yourself up for the fall?

Let’s look at this another way; are you getting what you want or are you getting what you don’t want?

When the idea to relate these events first popped into my head, I thought ‘what a good idea’. Now I am actually a little reticent to proceed because of the personal narrative and being seen as self serving. But let’s face it, a personal story with a good point to it or a lesson contained within, is an ideal communication means.

Going to the wedding. Last month was an exciting time in our lives. Sue’s daughter and my step daughter (I prefer to skip the step) was back in Australia after three years away overseas. Her and her fiancé were home to get married, catch up with family and then head off again.

Sue, typical of most mothers wanted to spend as much time as possible with her daughter before she left again. For us this was going to mean a trip interstate from our home outside of Brisbane in Queensland, to Australia’s busiest city, Sydney. This is also a busy time of year for us and not the most desirable period to be taking time out. Never the less we decided this was what we wanted to do. Family should always come first Family weddingwherever possible.

Now with the decision made we needed to attend to the details. First up was to get someone who could cover for us in our absence, as our normal assistant would not be available. Soon this was covered and all was looking good for the trip.

We decided we would prefer to drive to Sydney and back and besides we wouldn’t need to hire a car to move around as and when we wanted to while in Sydney. The ways and means had now been decided and a course of action set and everything of course built around the important wedding date.

We sat down quietly, in a fashion very similar to meditation and set forth our intentions for the journey:

To enjoy a smooth and relaxing drive along the highway with no hold ups or delays. Otherwise you get caught up in the entanglements of the other road users. Also we would take two relaxing days and enjoy the scenery for the thousand kilometer (600 miles) trip and the same for the return journey.

That we would find suitable accommodation available at a regular price (many places apply holiday loadings at this time of year) as we made our journey and completed our stay in Sydney.

All of our interactions with people would be affable and enjoyable and that we would catch up with friends and be able to spend plenty of time with family.

Simple enough you might say, but do you do it? Or do you just head out and hope for the best, leaving it all to chance?

These are some of the things I noticed about our trip:

Just before we left, an old friend of Sue’s contacted her and said she had just heard we were heading for Sydney and that she would love us to stay with her for the full two weeks. (Thank You).

Along the road, in holiday season, not only did we have no trouble getting a desirable room, but we got them at discounted ‘off the road’ prices.

On our first nights stay, we went to a local shop for some bits and pieces and somehow got into a conversation about where we were heading. The shop keeper told us of his horrendous journey down the highway a couple of days previously. Due to some major and many minor road works, many delays were experienced by him and he assured us we would face the same as would other road users. When we gently tried to explain to him that he was setting himself up for his experiences and that he needed to change his way of thinking, we were told we were using ‘Pollyanna thinking’ and were laughingly escorted from his shop.

Guess what? The next day we glided through all of the road works and except for some periods of lowered speed limits we were never inconvenienced.

We don’t enjoy fast food roadhouses, so we were exceedingly pleased with the coincidence of a delightful café or restaurant being available, sometimes with just a small detour being involved, whenever we required one. Especially on the morning Sue declared she would love a Devonshire tea. We then spotted the sign for a little off the road bakery we hadn’t stopped at in years. They were just finished baking when we pulled up out front and their claim to have the best scones in the country was no small claim. Yummy!

One of the things we did while in Sydney was to visit our old shopping centre or mall, now tripled in size and according to our friend, it would be impossible for us to get an easy car parking spot. Our friend was astounded when we drove straight into a parking space, right near the entrance we wanted. Whenever we go out, we just expect (intention) to get the parking spot we want, or at least one very nearby. To back it up we always enlist the help of our parking angels.

The thing that even we found incredible was that we never met a person on our trip that we didn’t like or couldn’t get along with. Considering the numbers involved, this seemed like quite a feat, as much as I believe in the power of my intentions.

So I guess to wind up my story, I believe it serves well, to illustrate the ways in which we can have our lives work the way we want or intend. But if we don’t make the effort to proclaim what we want, we just get what gets served up. And that’s not always pleasant.

Bits and Pieces.

I was glancing through Susan Hayward’s little book ‘Begin It Now’ and I felt compelled to share these two quotes:begin-it-now

Life is not a situation, but a process; not static, but dynamic. Its essential element is change, and the great question facing each of us is whether we will channel that change in the directions we want to go, shaping our destiny, or whether we will permit our activities and our character to be determined by those random courses we call fate. To the extent that we procrastinate, we are following the second course’.

~Edwin C Bliss~

Your potential is unlimited. Aspire to a higher place. Believe in your abilities, in your tastes, in your own judgement.

Image and perceive that which you wish to be. Back your image with enthusiasm and courage.

Feel the reality of your ‘new’ self, live in the expectancy of greater things and your subconscious will actualize them’.

Four Keys to making your day a better and more joyful experience.

Here are four simple and easy to apply keys that can be utilized for free to set up a more joyful and fulfilling day. You only need to embrace them and make them part of your life to receive their benefits. All true gratification and joy is a byproduct of the emotional environment we create for ourselves. Use these to unlock a more plentiful life experience.

1) See the beauty in your life and acknowledge it.

Seeing and taking pleasure from the beauty that is all around us is one of our favorite pastimes and we have practiced it from ancient times. Taking some time out, especially when we are busy, is a confirmation that beauty in all things is something we treasure over the mundane. The acknowledgement of both natural and created beauty enlivens the hope for mankind’s spirit and the world we live in.

2) Share a smile and smile frequently throughout your day.

Smiling is a free way to bring more joy into your life. It’s not just a social nicety; it actually causes and increases the release of Serotonin from the pituitary gland, flooding your brain with good feelings. When you smile most people respond with a smile causing them to have the same result.  What a great and invaluable way to make a better day for yourself and also give an incredible gift to others.

3) Ask for what you want.

Asking is the first and vital step in receiving. As obvious as this sounds, you can’t get what you don’t ask for. So if you believe you deserve, ask for it. Believe in your deserving as this enhances your self esteem and creates an awareness of abundance. The more this awareness grows the more you will realize the abundance that is available from the universe. The more you ask the more you will receive.

4) Spend time every day in gratitude for what you have.

Giving thanks is the completion of your receiving. Having an attitude of gratitude is an acceptance and acknowledgement of your deserving and receiving and helps you displace any thoughts of guilt. Being grateful for what you have as opposed to bemoaning what you don’t have, creates a sense of fulfillment in the experience. More joy is experienced through your gratitude.

May you be abundant in the riches of life:-

Health, Happiness, Love, Success and Prosperity.
