WhollyMetaphysical Newsletter – September 2010

What’s in this newsletter: – This month we take a look at Love and Gratitude, and Choosing Our Experience.  We also have the inspirational quote for the month, Card Reading – from ‘Ask Your Guides’ Oracle.

Hello and welcome to another WhollyMetaphysical Communiqué. “Teach only Love, for that is what you are”—A Course in Miracles. These words reminded me that at our core this is what or who we really are. Yet how easy is it to forget this truth as we get caught up in our daily affairs?

As a few irritations begin to build, and imagined or real slights get under our skin, and as we let ourselves fall into the habits of the day, it can be so easy to forget this truth and respond with a decided lack of love. By reacting negatively in this way, from our baser self, we are teaching by our actions quite the opposite of love, rather than acting from our human or higher self and demonstrating or teaching love.

Yet every day we are given the opportunity to respond from love and to express the very best of who we are. We can choose by our actions to set a better example and teach a better way. Our thoughts words and deeds set up a vibrational tone that is returned to us in our experience; the more forgiving, loving and grateful we are the more this is experienced. (more…)

Desiderata…

Desiderata (Latin for “desired things”).

The Philosophy for a serene and happy life!

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit.Desiderata

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let not this blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Yes there is a God – a beautiful story

I receiveLittle Girl and Dogd this beautiful story the other day and wanted to share:

It is not known who, but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office of the US postal service.

Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey… She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I though we could so she dictated the words.

Dear God,

Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much.

Change Your Thinking

It will take just 37 seconds to read this and change your thinking..

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room.

One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs.

His bed was next to the room’s only window.

The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.

I Wish You Enough

A dear old friend recently handed me an aged, but neatly folded piece of paper that she had been keeping for a long while. She said it could be appropriate to share with our members. The following message was hand written upon it and we agree, so here it is.

I Wish You Enough.

Recently I overheard a mother talking to her daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure. Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the mother said, “I love you and I wish you enough”.

The daughter replied, “Mum our life together has been more than enough”. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Mum.”
They kissed and the daughter left.

The mother walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see that she wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on her privacy but she welcomed me in by asking, “Did you ever have to say good-bye to someone, knowing it would be forever?

“Yes, I have.” I replied. “Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?”

“I am old and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is – the next trip back will be for my funeral,” she said.

“When you were saying good-bye I heard you say, ‘I wish you enough.’ May I ask what that means?”

She began to smile. “That’s a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone. She paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in more detail and she smiled even more.”When we said ‘I wish you enough’, we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them.”
Then turning toward me, she shared the following as if she were reciting it from memory….

“I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter may how gray the day may appear.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.
I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.”

She then began to cry and walked away.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but an entire life to forget them.
