Desiderata…

Desiderata (Latin for “desired things”).

The Philosophy for a serene and happy life!

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit.Desiderata

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let not this blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

An Inspirational Prayer

May the light of your soul guide you today.

May the light of your soul bless your work and play with the immense love and warmth of your heart.

May you see in all that you do the beauty and light of your own soul.

May you see your own divine reflection in the eyes of those you encounter.

May the sacredness of your presence bring healing, light, and renewal to those who meet you, work with you, and need your inspiration.

May your work never weary you.

May your work release within you wellsprings of refreshment, inspiration and excitement.

May you be aware and present in all that you do.

May you never become lost and taken far from the light of your divine path.

May your burdens be lifted as you embrace a grander perspective.

May dawn find you awake and alert, approaching your new day with dreams, possibilities, inspiration, and promises.

May evening find you content, gracious, and fulfilled.

May you go into the night blessed, sheltered, and protected.

May your eternal spirit calm, console, and renew you today and always.

Yes there is a God – a beautiful story

I receiveLittle Girl and Dogd this beautiful story the other day and wanted to share:

It is not known who, but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office of the US postal service.

Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey… She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I though we could so she dictated the words.

Dear God,

Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much.

THE WOODEN BOWL – An Inspirational Story

I guarantee you will remember the tale of the Wooden Bowl tomorrow, a week from now, a month from now,
a year from now
.

Portait of an Elderly Man A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year-old grandson.

The old man’s hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered.

The family ate together at the table. But the elderly grandfather’s shaky hands and failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor.

When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth.

The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess.

‘We must do something about father,’ said the son.

‘I’ve had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor.’

So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner.

There, Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner. (more…)
