Happy New Year and might it be a blessed and most magnificent year for you.

2012? What does this mean to you? There is so much gestalt built up around supposed events of this year, that it likely causes all of us to be wondering what it has in store for us… personally and of course collectively. There are so many opinions and theories getting about – that it really is hard to know just what’s what!

Is this year to be good, bad or indifferent? And you see, therein is the answer! It really will be whatever you make up your mind it is to be.

Sure, there is going to be a lot going on this year, but most of it is outside of our personal domain. So the best we can do is to tend to ourselves and ensure we are in the right places at the right times. — The right place in our attitudes, in our emotions and in our actions, all of which should be designed to ensure we are in vibrational harmony – firstly with our own Spirit and secondly with the Great Spirit and as much as possible with Mother Earth.

On the larger scale, many are painting a time of doom and gloom, almost a decent into hell: The end of time and our beautiful planet and her inhabitants, especially us. Yet their opponents are predicting our arrival into heaven, the time of Nirvana, the ceasing of human toil and trouble.  This is a lot to put onto a tiny pinpoint in the progression of time.

Underneath all of this, it still seems certain that something is happening. Indeed it is! We are growing up; we are moving into a new era – a new vibration – a new age. (more…)

This morning I was reading Shakti Gawain’s book ‘Return to the Garden, which is about her personal journey of discovery and her return to the garden of her soul and her connection to the earth. It is also about the possibility of each of us returning to our own soul garden and living life in a balanced and natural way.

Shakti is one of the shining lights from the eighties and along with her books and tapes played a significant role in my own transformation to living in the light.

Each of us as we make our own journey has to achieve a harmonious balance between our spiritual and physical self, and to learn that all things are connected.

In the chapter ‘Learning from the Earth’ she says, “…many of the ancient peoples, also understood their place as part of the great family of Earth. We can learn much by studying their ways and bringing forward those ideas and practices which can help us. Not that we need to, or can, return to the past, but within their way of life was and still is a great way of wisdom, which we with our vast sophisticated wisdom have lost. We must find that innate wisdom again, and use our technical knowledge, not to destroy but to enhance and protect the Earth.”

As a beautiful example of the great wisdom of the past, she sites Chief Seattle’s Letter. As I was reading this I realized that this is a wisdom we all need to reconnect with to strengthen our understanding of God in all Things, especially inside us, and that we are all one.

It is so important that we listen to the messages and synchronicities that are being placed before us all the time. Even the card reading this month is yet another example of this, demonstrating just how important it is for us to listen to and follow our guidance, especially when it comes to a choice between it and our intellect, and more importantly, that we live our life from a place of love.

The other day I was a passenger in a car when the driver let out an expletive making his annoyance well known as his foot went for the brake. We were coming to a stop for road works and up ahead was a stop and go sign operator clearly bringing us to a halt. Sure we were on a tight schedule, but I really didn’t think it warranted the agitation my companion seemed to be experiencing as he bemoaned our fate and cursed the workers who were holding us up.

It was no more than a few minutes and we were on our way. As we passed the stop-go paddle operator she was giving us an encouraging wave and a cheering smile, you could almost imagine her wishing us well for the rest of our journey. As we passed my companion growled, “What’s she so happy about?” Then set to the task of getting us to our destination.

Now I am sure he wouldn’t admit it, that’s if he even recognized it, but just after this he began to smile himself and his demeanour changed for the better.

In the few minutes we were waiting he told me all about the useless so and so’s that are only fit for menial hire. He revealed quite a bit about himself in those moments. Now I could not agree with his prognosis, but I did see into his own hurt and disillusionment and sadly what is often a common opinion. But that is not my story for today. (more…)

If we allow ourselves, it can be so easy to get caught up in drudgery and turn what should be a beautiful day and a beautiful life into something else. Or with a decision and a little bit of effort and a few skills we can TURN WATER INTO WINE!

This is the opportunity that was presented to me the other day, but in reality it is presented to each of us every day. The weekend had come around and over breakfast I had begun to build the list of chores that where considered to be essential for completion.

After the floods earlier this year, quite a fuel load has built up on some of the properties surrounding us, so we considered it important to mow a fire break around our place, along with other tasks to be sure we were fire ready. As I started to mow I was amazed at how dry it had already become as dust began to cover me and make me sneeze and get itchy and uncomfortable. Due to hedges and other perimeter plantings a large part of this task would need to done using the hand motor mower and then the broader strip could be done on the ride on.

Well, only a short while into it and I was beginning to fall for it – the trap of feeling sorry for myself and the thought of the rest of the day slaving away at my chores.

Luckily I caught myself out and made some choices for the better. We all have choices, we can spend our days begrudgingly moving through our tasks or we can elevate our position and have some joy. The choice is always ours to make.

Here is a story I would like to relate, that I heard the other day. A contractor had decided he wanted to retire after many years of working and making his way. He had started his career as an apprentice to a certain builder and after several years had become one of his leading contractors.

He approached the builder and told him he wished to retire. The builder told him he had come to depend upon him over the years and that he had one more important job to do for a special client and convinced him to stay on and see this one through.

As had become the practice over the years the contractor had free rein to do the best he could and to supply accordingly. He started into the job with his usual aplomb, but after a short while began to think about his retirement and began to lose interest in the job. He began to cut corners and to cover up short fallings and went for lower grade fittings and fixtures—in general he had lost his interest in the job and almost begrudgingly only did enough to get by and complete the project.

The day came when he and the builder had an inspection and hand over of the completed job. The contractor received his payment and handed the keys to the builder.

The builder then told the contractor that he had had him build this house as a reward and recognition of a friend whose many years of valuable service and contribution had helped him to grow and succeed in his business…

He then handed the contractor the keys to house and wished him well in his retirement.

Rather than state the moral principles portrayed in this story, I am leaving it for you to reveal them to yourself, and to make of it what you may and how it relates to how you conduct your affairs.

The card reading this month somehow acted as the trigger for what I want to convey. In our reality there are two things happening at once – the so called reality, also referred to as the facts and our created experience or our interaction with this set of circumstances. How we react between the two is pretty much up to how we think and speak about our experience.

Within a given set of circumstances we can experience many different realities. All too often we will knuckle down and speak our way into a harder reality and sacrifice our pleasure and joy in the experience.

On previous occasions I have drawn attention to basic life principles that can help to make life simpler, more enjoyable and that greatly assist us to achieve our aims. Basically most of our adages, proverbs and axioms provide perfect keys to the best ways to conduct our lives and our affairs. (more…)

Hello and welcome to another WhollyMetaphysical Communiqué.

Around this time every year we have the Mind, Body, Spirit Festival in Brisbane, and at other times in each state throughout Australia, with similar shows held annually in many other countries. The thing I really enjoy about these events is the way they remind us that we are body mind and spirit, connected, all wrapped up into one—complete—our humanness —our very being.

It is the synchronization and balance of these three divisions of our being that leads to harmony, joy and exuberance for life. I am sure we all know of examples among our friends and acquaintances of those who have placed too much emphasis on just one or maybe two of these components.

With the physical, we see among them the gym junkies, the beauty parlour attendees,—every one trying hard to be primmed, preened and perfectly presented, all very heavily invested in their physical appearance.

With those of the mind we see among them, those deeply weighted in intellectual pursuit, often to the expense of common sense, frequently to the point of not being able to interact with the general populace.

And of course those who are so lost in their spiritual quest, that they have lost touch with reality and the requirements for human interaction preferring to live with the pixies.

All of this points to the need to live in a balanced and grounded way, paying equal attention to our whole self. I know this appears very obvious, but it’s good for all of us to be reminded from time to time. (more…)

Perhaps you have noticed that the Universe is constantly communicating with us. Of course the more ‘aware’ you are, the more this is a part of your reality and the more you count on it to steer you through your life journey. It really is a wonderful navigation system.

Well, the other day I was sitting, waiting for my appointment with my chiropractor when I noticed a crumpled up piece of paper on the seat beside me. My reaction demonstrated that I really had improved in this area. Years ago I would have gotten quite upset with this careless persons lack of care, thoughtlessness and act of littering. This piece of paper would have been indicative of the much larger problem of world pollution and acted as a catalyst to set me off and put me emotionally off centre. (more…)

Hello and welcome to another WhollyMetaphysical Communiqué. What’s the Earth Mother up to? Not even a quarter of a year gone by yet and already we have experienced what seems like a life time of natural disasters. Floods, droughts, earthquakes, tsunamis, cyclones, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions and even some plagues to complete the scenario.

Is she just benignly going about her business, fulfilling cycles and getting back to delivering some of the big end stuff and creating a few new records? Or has she spat the dummy and is giving us some pay-back for the damage we are doing to the earth, while at the same time not listening to her messages?

Adding some real interest in this mix of natural events is the fact that on March 19 we will have experienced a Super Moon; this is where the moon will swing around Earth more closely than it has in the past 18 years, lighting up the night sky from just 356,577 kilometres (221,567 miles) away. On top of that, it will be full. Some astrologers believe that the extra pull created by its closeness could be contributing to some of the damage happening on the planet. At least, it will soon be slowly moving away again and not due so close for another 18 years.  (more…)
